Who am I and what am I doing? These questions are usually reserved for self- reflection. But now, since I’m taking up space in the town newspaper, you may also be wondering who I am and what I’m doing. So here we go, some semi-random thoughts on both.
Who am I? I am a middle aged Lititz resident, learning about life as I go through it. I’m a family guy with a wife and two daughters. One daughter is in college, the other just graduated. I’m a musician who loves making noise around the house but also needs periods of total silence. I’m an introvert who is eternally thankful for texting because it helps me avoid talking to people on the phone. I’m a pensive guy who sometimes thinks too much but other times, not enough. I’m a dreamer with a serious practicality streak. Apparently I’m impatient. At least that’s what everybody tells me. I’m a wonderer who is curious about things, wanting to know “why” and “how”. I’m a teller of long stories. Friends need to specify whether they want to hear the regular version or the “Todd version” of events. I’m heir of the multi-generational family nickname, “Fuge” (Rhymes with stooge. Hopefully that’s just a coincidence). These are a few of the things that make me both unique and extraordinarily ordinary at the same time. That’s just life as a human.
What am I doing? Right now I’m writing my first column for The Lititz Record and hoping to somebody reads it. Career-wise, I’m teaching music at a local elementary school. My 25th year begins this fall. Musically, I’m playing with a bunch of different groups as either bandleader, freelancer or band member. Music is a big part of my life, so right now I’m shamelessly plugging my music website: www.toddfulginiti.com. More broadly with music, I’m doing something I love in a way that hopefully brings joy to people. As a community member, I serve on the board of a local non-profit called FoodStock. This group was started by a musician friend of mine with the intention of staging musical fundraising events and donating the money to local food banks. We have an event coming up on July 28 called FoodStock MusicFest. Facebook or Google it for more info. I also served a term on Lititz Borough Council. As a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, I’m wondering if the birds will be able to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. As a sometimes lazy husband, I’m hoping my wife will get home before me and empty the dishwasher.
To sum up and avoid the “Todd version”, who I am is a pretty typical human being trying to get through and understand life. What I’m doing is inviting you to tag along and share my stories, thoughts and musings.
